Bobie "Chahta (Choctaw)" Pounds

A very close and great friend - and a great man - 'walked west' on November 8, .

We all would like to live our lives as good people. But Bobie didn't only live his life as a good person, he was a great man. His soul was love, compassion, and care. Although when someone that we know and love has passed on we naturally speak of what a great person they were, that is not why I speak that way of Bobie. If I had never been this man's friend I would have said the same thing. He was one in a million.

His name was Bobie (Bobby), but we all called him 'Choctaw'. Choctaw was very spiritual and in touch with the Earth, his Great One, and his fellow man. Choctaw was 'love' and 'love' is like the wind. You don't know it's there until it touches something and creates music. Choctaw created a special song with everyone he touched. He was gentle and kind, compassionate and good. He accepted everyone... I often times saw him walk up to complete strangers, shake their hand, and start talking to them like they were the oldest and best of buddies.

Choctaw was a proud man who served his country for twenty years, served in Viet Nam, and, as a chopper pilot, he was decorated with the bronze star for distinguished duty in combat. But that is nothing compared to the true gift of this man.

He held high respect for every person he had met, and treated all with that same respect. He stood up for right and good.

Such beauty never dies, and, just like the wind, I know that now - whenever I'll feel a warm and gentle breeze brush across my face - that it is Bobie's love for his world and all that is in it, for a beauty such as his is eternal. I hope you all will feel Bobie, too, when the air is softly stirring and gracing you with its eternal presence.

Thank you, Bobie, for being our friend. It is an honor.

Sadly missed, and proud to have had a place in your heart,

Sue,  Kimber, and Larry 'Greywolf'

"We will always feel you around us."

Oh Great Spirit;
whose voice I hear in the wind,
and whose breath gives life to all the world,
hear my prayer.
Let me walk in beauty
through all my days.

May my eyes see sunrise freshness,
and sunset glory.
Make my hands respect
the things you have made,

and my ears sharp to hear
your many voices.

I am small and weak
I need your strength and wisdom.
Make me wise,
that I may learn the lessons you teach my people,
the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength, not to be superior to my brother,
but to fight my greatest enemy, myself.
Oh Great Spirit, hear me.
Make me ready.
So when life fades to a last sunset,
my spirit will come to you without shame.

(INTRO)

**

WHEN THE SUN - BURNS BRIGHT IN THE SKY

WHEN THE WIND - BLOWS GENTLY BY

I WON'T BE SAD, NO - I WON'T CRY

‘CAUSE I'LL FEEL YOU AROUND ME

**

WHEN THE MOUNTAINS - STAND TALL WITH PRIDE

WHEN THE DESERT - IS WARM THROUGH THE NIGHT

I WON'T GRIEVE, AND I WON'T HIDE

‘CAUSE I'LL FEEL YOU AROUND ME, AGAIN

**

WHILE WE WERE YOUNG

LIFE PASSED SLOWLY BY

NOW YOU'RE GONE

I LOOK TO THE TIME...

**

WHEN MOTHER EARTH - IS GENTLE AND GREEN

GRANDMOTHER MOON - MAKES THE COYOTE SING

FATHER SUN, WILL RISE AND TAKE WING

THEN I'LL FEEL YOU AROUND ME, AGAIN

**

(BREAK - BRIDGE - LAST VERSE)

YES, I'LL FEEL YOU AROUND ME

OH, I'LL FEEL YOU AROUND ME, AGAIN
